Sure it’s supposed to go in a racing boat but I’ve seen a Viper swapped Miata, this will fit in a Mustang. What is the best swap for this engine?

Ok, the BEST part of that OEM link is the engine color configurator. (why the hell don’t auto OEMs offer engine color choices, dammit?) I settled on red & yellow for a McDonald’s vibe.

Does Mercury Racing still use GM engines? They must have designed their own D OHC top end.

Yes. That is basically a tall deck big block GM engine , with their own heads. Digging around, Mercury claims it is their own cylinder head design that is manufactured by Ed el broc k.
